5 Simple Things You Can Do to Improve Your OH

1. BRUSH REGULARLY

And pay attention to how you brush. You want gentle (nix the harsh scrubbing), circular motions for 2 minutes, 2-3 times each day…including right before bed. We love electric toothbrushes because they’re much better at targeting stubborn plaque and gingivitis. The cool AI that many manufacturers use is also useful.

If you’re ready to make the switch, give us a call before you purchase online. We have some available to our patients at a significant cost-savings.

2. FLOSS

It’s about much more than getting out those stuck-in tortilla chips or pieces of broccoli. It’s essential for your gums to remove the plaque in between the teeth and prevent gingivitis. Do it once a day and you’ll start to notice an improvement.

Thank goodness for floss picks…they make it a cinch. But take our word for it, they are NOT all created equal, so go with a good brand like these: Floss Picks on Amazon

3. DRINK WATER

We all know it’s the best beverage for overall health—but swishing and drinking water after every snack or meal also provides a quick cleanse when you can’t brush right away.

4. LIMIT SUGARY FOODS

Sugar erodes enamel, which can cause sensitivity and also lead to cavities. Other acidic fruits, teas, and coffee can also wear down tooth enamel (see above, “DRINK WATER”, because giving up coffee is sometimes Not. An. Option).

5. SEE A DENTIST

Dentists provide necessary cleanings and are trained to spot decay or other potential issues. They’ll also ask you about flossing. And when you’ve been flossing regularly, you’ll feel like a boss telling them so. See them at least twice a year.

Do these five things regularly and your OH will thank you!
